What is it about an empty frame that is so appealing? It remains a mystery to me. Perhaps that is the appeal: the mystery. Here at Mulberry Gallery we continually acquire groups of sample frames. These are frames slightly used that at one time have been part of a store display. We call them “Empties”. They are available to our customers at discount. Frequently our customers buy sets of 3 to 5 frames to hang in their homes – an “empty” design waiting for just the right “something.” I decided to follow a few of our “Empties” out the door and into their new life.

Meet Michelle. She recently moved into a wonderful coastal bungalow four minutes from work. Her home is filled with sunlight and she can follow the sounds of the ocean waves in her early morning walks. Bit by bit she began to enjoy the process of turning her new house into her home.

One of her favorite areas is the living room. She loves the way the sunlight filters in from the ocean in the late afternoon. A collection of empty frames echoing the feelings of beach and light seemed just the ticket to complete the look. For now! Who knows what treasured moment will find its way into one of those empty frames!

For now, a cozy throw on the couch, her friend ” Puppy ” cuddled in her lap, and a wall design that reflects her coastal style creates the hearth in her home.
