Ray Evans with his Visionary Art

Ray Evans calls himself a Visionary Artist, and that he is. He sees life as a place where spirituality and nature merge into a surrealistic creation of beauty.

He works with pens, pencils, inks, dyes and batik. With these materials he creates his vision of the moment. Once his art is set on fabric he continues creating with computer tools. The final images are presented on an acrylic metal finish. This surface enhances the brilliance of his original dyes from the batik process.

As Ray puts it, “…I am a vessel … that forms visions emanating from my thoughts. I like to say my works of art create themselves; I but drag the pencil or brush as it might be.

We are fortunate to represent the art of Ray Evans at Mulberry Gallery in Aptos Village. This Saturday, May 21 from 6 – 8 PM, Ray allows us an intimate opportunity to listen to his stories.  He will present his newest works and he will describe his batik process. In Ray’s words he shares, “the amazing world of underwater life, flowers and birds of flight. Join with me to get wet and fly in the air of fantasy in a life beyond thought and reality to a place of beauty and wonder.”
