Empties.. An Empty Frame Waiting to Happen

What is it about an empty frame that is so appealing? Perhaps it’s the mystery, the possibility of an untold story awaiting the home of a new frame. Filling an empty frame with a reflection  of a personal story or memory becomes an opportunity for self expression. Leaving an empty frame empty also serves as an opportunity for self expression.

Here at Mulberry Gallery we continually acquire groups of sample frames. We call them “Empties”. During the next four Saturday Sidewalk Sale days we are featuring a variety of beautiful “Empty” sample frames with great discounts. This is the perfect opportunity to create an artful design. We hope these ideas will help to stir up your own personal creativity.

The choices are boundless. We can choose frames with soft coastal colors or darker wood textures. We have decided to frame botanical art and the dried fall foliage we see around our home. We will choose a combination of an Italian rustic wood profile, a tropical wood and a traditional gold flecked profile to frame our two arrangements.

First is an accent piece for a side table along a living room wall. The idea is to bring the outdoors in as guests enter the home. The botanical art has been highlighted with a traditional gold flecked frame and two rustic wood pieces which work well with the Brazilian antique farm furniture in the  room. Outside of the “Empties” we placed a distressed candle holder  and wooden bowl to show off a variety of colors and textures celebrating our  fall season.

Our second arrangement is intended to grace an entry table as one enters a home. It can also serve as a focal point in a kitchen.  Quince, pomegranates and a pumpkin perfectly usher in the season. What better way to frame an arrangement of fall fruit and dried leaves than the simplicity of two natural wood frames?
